The hate that NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has received after speaking up on racial issues in america has left many speechless. Not only does Kaepernick now secure a role as backup QB for the 49ers but he has also had to deal with the San Francisco Police Union threatening to stop covering 49er home games. The criticism over the past two weeks have been astonishing, after he decided not to stand for the national anthem prior to a pre-season game against the Green Bay Packers. Some of the NFL’s greatest legends have spoken out against Kaepernick players such as Jerry Rice, Rodney Harrison and even Muhammad Ali’s ex-wife.

But in the midst of that same criticism he has also received a slew of support from all-over the world as his Jersey was the #20 selling jersey in the NFL and ever since his protest it has sky rocketed to the #1 selling jersey in the NFL currently. People who have stood up to support Kap include president Barack Obama, rapper J. Cole, Beyonce’s mother Tina Lawson, NBA Legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Teammate Eric Reid, singer Trey Songz, Veterans tweeted their support for Kap through a hashtag on Twitter that read ” #VeteransforKaepernick ” and many more notables but to add to that list USWNT star Megan Rapinoe is the latest supporter after she decided to show her support by kneeling down before a NWSL match on sunday night.

After the match ended she spoke with espnW’s Julie Foudy about why she chose to do it. “I am disgusted with the way [Kaepernick] has been treated and the fans and hatred he has received in all of this,” she said. “It is overtly racist. ‘Stay in your place, black man.’ Just didn’t feel right to me. We need a more substantiative conversation around race relations and the way people of color are treated.”

Rapinoe called taking a knee during the anthem “the least I can do” on Twitter.
