The first thing you’ll notice about Richie Rocket when taking the stage is his rainbow-colored hair. The experimental hip-hop artist dropped his first mixtape, Zero Gravity, with DJ Smallz in 2011, earning 100,000 downloads, a single on the radio, “Slow Down,” and an impressive web presence on World Star Hip-Hop, but didn’t take his success seriously.

Now with a renewed vigor and seriousness for the industry, Richie will be releasing his second mixtape, Take A Chill Pill, in September 2016, which will be the first of a four-part series consisting of music covers from the 1980s through the modern decade. Take A Chill Pill features a single produced by Shawty Redd and a feature from SosaMann. Richie enjoys collaborating with DJ Smallz and his Florida-based company Southern Smoke. With industry leaders including SosaMann, (who is represented by Taylor Gang) and Shawty Redd (who also works with Young Jeezy Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, and other influential hiphop artists), RIchie has a good chance of winning.

The 27-year-old experiments with a unique style, moving away from the conventional look and opting for women’s clothes and eyebrows and nails on-point while still keeping it street.
