HBO celebrated the premiere of its new comedy series Insecure starring Issa Rae in Brooklyn, New York, this past weekend.
The show’s cast and crew, along with some of New York City’s most influential people, feted the premiere at Brooklyn’s The Landing at Industry City. The celebration featured performances by R&B crooner BJ The Chicago Kid and Arkansas newcomer Kari Faux, as well as DJ sets from Ms. Nix and Kitty Cash.
The half-hour comedy series examines the friendship between two modern-day Black women dealing with their own flaws and uncomfortable daily experiences. Created by Issa Rae, most known for her wildly popular digital series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Insecure stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Lisa Joyce, and is executive produced by Larry Wilmore, Michael Rotenberg, and famed direct Melina Matsoukas and Prentice Penny who also serves as show runner.
Insecure airs each and every Sunday beginning October 9th on HBO at 10:30 p.m. EST. Insecure will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, and HBO On Demand.
