In this day and age in hip-hop, securing a record deal with a label takes a lot. Plenty of grunt work, savvy and cash-on-hand is needed. Harlem emcee Dave East is realizing he fruits of his labor, as he has just inked a deal with the illustrious Def Jam Records.
According to AllHipHop:
Previously he was signed with Mass Appeal Records and the new deal will continue as a partnership with the media company.
The Nas-affiliated raper let his exuberance known on social media.
“I Remember Sittin In My Nasty Ass Cell Tellin My Celly Ima Do The Music Thing When I Get Out This Shit. Went Hard As I Possibly Could Then @nas Signed Me. I’ll Never Have To Live In The Projects Again And That Was A Real Dream. Thank You @defjamrecords For Welcoming Me To The Family#FreakyForever ,” he said.
Congratulations, Dave! This is only the beginning of a promising career. Look out for Dave East’s new solo project, Kairi Chanel, to drop on September 30.
