Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce teamed up in 2007 with a goal to win a championship. They achieved that goal and the Celtics organization and fans showed their appreciation last night in Boston.
Emotions were high at TD Garden last night as Garnett and Pierce made their first visit back to Boston since leaving town for the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics played two in-game tribute videos during timeouts to honor each of the former Celtics heroes.
This type of admiration and appreciation is rare in professional sports, especially in the NBA. Fans in attendance cheered, most cried, and the sellout crowd gave a standing ovation in a show of true love and respect for the two future Hall of Famers.
Pierce: “This was the toughest game I ever had to play. Tougher than any championship game. So hard to focus…you get showered with love.”
