After being selected #1 overall in this past year’s NBA draft, and after putting on a jaw-dropping pre-season performance, Ben Simmons was easily considered a favorite for this year’s Rookie of The Year Award. Unfortunately, last week he suffered a break in his right foot, and now must undergo surgery. While the injury will push Simmons debut back for a good portion of the season, Philly fans were hopeful in his return.

To rub salt in the wound, Simmons’ agent Rich Paul allegedly wants the rookie to sit for the remainder of the year. According to Bob Cooney of The Philadelphia Daily New’s, “there’s no way his agent will let him play this season.” Cooney shared his insight regarding the situation on 97.5 The Fanatic.

President Bryan Colangelo made it clear to the media that they will not rush Simmons back on to the court, however nobody on the team’s staff planned on losing Simmons for the entire season. After finally getting Joel Embiid back to health since 2014, it seems as if the re-building franchise cannot catch a break. Lets hope these rumors are simply rumors.
