Fourteen-year-old Reginald Lofton has been charged in the murder of a Gwinnett County, Georgia pizza delivery driver.
Lofton, who went to trial earlier this week, was tried as an adult and charged with felony murder, armed robbery, and aggravated assault in connection with the March 1 shooting death of 28-year-old Shane Varnadore. According to reports, the Georgia teen and 21-year-old co-defendant Jermaine Young robbed and shot Varnadore, a Papa John’s delivery driver, outside an apartment complex on Lawrenceville’s Herrington Road.
During one of the hearings, a detective testified that each defendant is blaming the other for actually pulling the trigger. Ironically, when detectives searched their home, they found the murder weapon inside a box of pancake mix – it was the same weapon Lofton and Young were on Facebook bragging about just hours before the murder.
No word on co-defendant Jermaine Young’s trial date and charges.
