Katrina Bookman‘s life was completely changed after hitting the jackpot at the Resorts World Casino back in August.

Unfortunately, for the New York woman, her excitement was short-lived after being told the machine had malfunctioned and that she actually didn’t win the nearly $43 millionleyt. According to reports, Bookman was instantly cheered on by customers and casino personnel after hitting the jackpot.

However, when she returned the next day to find out exactly how she had won, a casino representative told Bookman that she won nothing. Adding insult to injury, the casino didn’t even offer her a percentage of the cash, but they did offer her a steak dinner. Bookman’s attorney, Alan Ripka, told reporters, “They win and the house doesn’t want to pay out. To me that’s unfair. The machine takes your money when you lose. It ought to pay it when you win.”

The New York State Gaming Commission said the machine Bookman played had malfunctioned and that all winnings are voided in that case.
