Lebron James shattered another record and nabbed a spot among the NBA’s top scorers—making the the Cleveland Cavaliers’ win last night even sweeter [Saturday, November 5].
James and his team had been on a streak, undefeated in every one of their five games so far. In their sixth game of the season, both the Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers came to win—literally coming down to the point. And if it wasn’t for the powerful defense of the 76ers, James’ attempts at baskets would have reaped the scoring record sooner. But that seemed to just motivate him even more—still able to make the list all-time career scorers before the first quarter’s buzzer. With that record-breaking layup, he scored 25 points total that night.

James knocked down Hakeem Olajuwon to the 11th rank with a total of 26,970 points since being drafted in 2003. James now trails behind Elvin Hayes and has about 12,000 more points before coming close to No. 1 spot Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. James and No. 6 Dirk Nowitzki are the only active players in the top 10.
