People Of Color (POC), we need to stop with all the whining and complaining. The election is upon us and I do not want to hear one more mention of the apathy that you have about the choice in candidates or the importance (or lack thereof ) of your vote in the political process.
I get it. I get the feeling that nothing in politics really matters when it comes to positively affecting our communities. I get it that we feel played by politicians and the political process. They court our votes during the election cycle and mostly ignore our needs and issues once elected, only to acknowledge our existence during the next campaigning season. I get that prior to Obama, rarely did we even feel that our votes even counted. I get that we feel excluded from the Democratic process especially Post-Obama, that we do not feel that there are any candidates that represent our interests let alone understand and empathize with the needs of our community.
