Michael Vick suffered a hamstring injury and Nick Foles took over as the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback. Unfortunately for Vick that began a new era for the Eagles.. Foles had an incredible breakout season of 27 touchdowns, 2,891 passing yards, a 64% completion rate and just 2 interceptions. The Eagles also made it to the playoffs before losing to the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round. With the success after a dismal season last year, it’s pretty safe to assume that Foles will be the Eagles starting quarterback going forward. So where does that leave Michael Vick?
Well he doesn’t know where he’ll end up but he does know he’ll be starter.
Around The League caught up with the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Wednesday at the Super Bowl Media Center, where he was visiting the NFL.com/Live set at Radio Row.
Vick didn’t skip a beat when we asked if he believed he’d be a starter come Week 1 in September.
“Absolutely,” he replied. “I can’t see no other way.”
Given the Gotham setting, we asked if the Jets might be a good fit in his quest to get back to the top of an NFL depth chart.
“I don’t know,” he said. “Who knows? What I am is really excited about the opportunity to play again in 2014 and that’s what’s important.”
Vick will become a free agent and many believe he will not re-sign with the Eagles. He’s made it quite clear that he does not want to be a backup which means his choices will now be extremely limited. The Jets would be an interesting landing spot but I don’t know if they’re willing to add more baggage to the circus.
