All too often in our inner-city communities, people are killed for seemingly no reason and families are left to grieve. The stress on those grieving families is exacerbated when they want to give their loved one a proper homegoing and burial, but it is a heavy financial burden. Such is the case for the family of Detroit resident, Jermaine Tilmon. According to his family, “He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, and mentor,” who fell victim to a “senseless act of violence” in the city.
Now, the family need your help. They are attempting to crowdfund $10,000 to send Jermaine off properly. If you are so moved, the family’s GoFundMe page can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/jermaine-tilmon
Jermaine was the father of Davontae Sanford, a young man who spent years in prison for murders that he did not commit. Davontae’s struggle will be a subject covered as part of our upcoming cover story about Detroit hitman Vincent Smothers.
