We first premiered The Black Opera’s “Black Frankenstein” at the end of last month, and now the Hip-Hop collective has delivered their anticipated African America album.
Citing this as their “most personal and expressive” project to date, African America serves as a necessary reminder of the struggles, beauty, and triumph of Black Americans in modern times.
“At its core, African America is the story of a people that feel lost, a people that don’t feel welcome in their place of birth,” says The Black Opera. “This is where Black Americans currently exist; a place where the laws and law enforcement don’t seem to serve or protect them. African America can be viewed as an actual plea to build a new home, or just to relocate mentally.”
