Is it too early to release a Barack Obama biopic? Not according to Netflix. Recently Netflix revealed a teaser for their biopic of Barack Obama titled Barry which focuses on the college years of the former President as played by Australian actor Devon Terrell.

The biopic will follow the 20-year-old Barack Obama, known to his friends as Barry, who goes to New York City in the fall of 1981 to begin his junior year at Columbia University. Pushed into the middle of a racially-charged environment, a young Obama in turn found himself pulled between various social spheres and struggles to maintain a series of increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father, and his classmates.

After initially debuting at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Barry will be coming to Netflix on December 16.
