Fifteen-year-olds have a lot on their minds at that age, but normally, being the kingpin of a major drug organization isn’t one of them. A 15-year-old boy from Perth in Australia had just that on his mind. According to police, he was the head of a meth ring in the shire of Northam.
For two months, detectives probed into the ring in an investigation called “Operation Virbius.” This operation culminated with the arrests of 10 people. Most of those arrested (men and women) were in their 20’s and 30’s. “Disturbingly, police will allege that the primary source of supply into Northam involving the conspirators charged, originated from one of the 15-year-old offenders,” said a spokeswoman for the Western Australia Police.
The boy in question was arrested along with another 15-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man at a house in Wanneroo. According to WA Today, inside, police allegedly seized “33 grams of ice, 30 grams of ecstasy, five tabs of LSD and some cannabis resin, three laptops, 10 smoking implements, pepper spray and house breaking implements, among other ‘items of interest’.”
The two boys appeared in Perth Children’s Court on Tuesday. The boy believed to be the kingpin was charged with counts of conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent, selling a prohibited drug and possession of a prohibited drug with intent.
