Man taken into custody after threatening to kill George W. Bush
According to a federal court complaint, a New York resident was armed with a rifle, a machete, and a box of ammunition when he was arrested on Friday after allegedly threatening to assassinate George W. Bush.
While being arrested, Smith yelled, “Bush will get his!”
The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan on Friday, read that Benjamin Smith of upstate New York threatened to “kill, kidnap and inflict bodily harm” on Bush. In addition, the complaint also mentions Smith declaring his love for Barbara, one of Bush’s twin daughters.
Upon discovering a note in their shared home that read of Smith’s plan to “work for George W. Bush and the Pentagon,” Smith’s mother forewarned the U.S. Secret Service.
As stated by Fox 40, Smith also wrote, “I have to slay a dragon and then Barbara Bush is mine… America is finished. Obama, etc.” Smith was tracked down by the U.S. Secret Service using a cell phone tracking device.
Under the United States Code, making threats against presidents of the United States is a class D felony.
