Don’t all come for Future at once.
Although as soon as these words left Future’s mouth, he received a tongue lashing like no other. During a rather healthy debate at a Barbershop, Future among other heavy hitters in the hip hop and sports world like: LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Steve Stoute, and others discussed classic albums. Future shared his thoughts on Jay Z’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
“Jay Z wasn’t great when 2pac and Biggie was alive,” Future said. “It was Biggie, Tupac, Ice Cube…Reasonable Doubt wasn’t hot until Tupac and Biggie died.”
However, the Atlanta rapper did add some clarity to his statement putting his words in perspective. Future said he loved the album and thought it was a classic but went on to say it wasn’t fully appreciated in 1996 due to the popularity of artists Biggie and Pac.
“I’m saying at that time, it wasn’t hot. They always go back for your classic album. When Nas dropped his first album, it was great then,” Future explained. When “I Ruled The World“ came out, it was the best then. You have to go back and listen to Reasonable Doubt and think this the best sh*t ever.”
