Former member of The Roots Dice Raw drops “Animal” from his upcoming Jimmy’s Back EP

Just in time for the Trayvon Martin trial, former Roots member and full time Philly wordsmith Dice Raw releases “ANIMAL”, the latest leak from from DICE RAW of THE ROOTS’ forthcoming concept album, JIMMY’S BACK (release date: August 4, 2013), inspired by the New York Times bestselling book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Color Blindness by, Dr. Michelle Alexander, which was previously featured in The Source Magazine’s “Central Booking” section. Produced by AntMan Wonder, Animal is a Rat Pack-inspired commentary on Black male stereotypes in America. At a time when being “Black while wearing a hoodie at night” might get you killed, DICE RAW is shining a bold light on the pain behind the profiling – in a way that only he can.
