This week, Fox Searchlight released the teaser trailer for Director Kasi Lemmons’ highly anticipated holiday musical “Black Nativity.” The film boasts a star-studded cast consisting of Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese Gibson, Jacob Latimore, Grace Gibson, Mary J. Blige, Nas, and Luke James.
Shot all over New York, “Black Nativity,” is a contemporary adaptation of Langston Hughes’ gospel musical of the same name. It was first performed on Broadway in 1961. The film tells the story of a teenage boy from Baltimore who is sent by his single mother to Harlem to spend Christmas with the grandparents he’s never met. Through his grandfather’s Christmas Eve sermon, he learns about the importance of faith and family.
“Black Nativity” hits theaters this Thanksgiving, November 27.
