Drake just keeps going.
The Best Rap Album Grammy pool wasn’t really as much an open competition as it was a head-to-head–Kendrick vs Macklemore. So, despite Drake pulling in his second consecutive nomination (Nothing Was The Same), we were more surprised at “Hold On, We’re Going Home” receiving no nominations than Nothing Was The Same not winning the coveted Best Rap Album award. Either way, Drake doesn’t seem to give a sh*t.
The Toronto rapper has been photographed partying for over a week straight, from the festivities in Los Angeles, and now back to NYC where he was last night, at one of the meatpacking district’s gem venues, The Griffin. With French Montana also in attendance, Drake took the DJ’ing duties away from his DJ, Future The Prince, for a few minutes to show off some new tunes. The Aaliyah collaboration was very recognizable, as it provided the backdrop to one of Drake’s Instagram videos in December while he was on the road for the Would You Like A Tour? tour, but the other song, which sounded more like a traditional rap song, reminiscent of “5 AM In Toronto”, was previewed for what we know to be the first time. Check out some of the Instagram clips of Drizzy giving the crowd at The Griffin a small treat.
