A peace of mind from the Roc-A-Fella co-founder.
This past Thursday, the internet was blessed with Jay-Z‘s newest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail (Roc Nation), and it was met with rave reviews. The album, which will be certified platinum upon release, has drawn conversations industry-wide, much like Jay’s brethren’s most recent effort, Yeezus, which came a mere two weeks prior.
In an interesting spin, Dame Dash, Jay’s storied business partner for the most important part of his career, posted a picture to his Instagram of a barbershop scene involving his comrades, to which he applied the caption, “In the barbershop listening to Jay’s new album…I can’t front…I still like hearing him pop shit cause I know he’s telling the truth…proud to be a part of that #bittersweet”. For those that don’t know, or live in Amish country, Dame Dash and Jay-Z’s falling out was one of the more publicized professional break-ups in rap history, and it is still the belief of some that business-wise, Jay never recovered from it. Though, judging by his Samsung commercials, he may have gotten the hang of it.
