In this new Trump administration, we have to pay close attention to the politics that are being conducted. However, to really be informed, we must learn the codes that are being spoken. One trick that must be put to bed is the minority hustle.
Oftentimes in the realm of politricks, we hear politicians speak about passing laws for minorities. Immediately, we assume that means they are passing laws for Blacks. In reality, from a political standpoint, Blacks are last on the minority scale as well. From a policy standpoint, Minorities are White women, disenfranchised White males, LGBTQ memebers, disabled citizens, Indians, Arabs, and a host of other nationalities. In policy, minorities are defined as anyone who are less than the majority. Minority does not automatically refer to race. There are different classifications that make one a minority. This is important to know because when lawmakers pass bills that are supposed to benefit minorities, we wonder why Blacks never seem to benefit from them. Well, this is why. They have been playing a game on the citizens for quite some time, and we must take heed to it now. In Donald Trump’s first week in office, he has passed controversial executive orders that have citizens poised to pay for a wall, and other orders that have devastated America’s immigrant community. Basically, 45 has done everything he claimed he was going to do on the campaign trail. If that’s the case, we better wake up, get ready to hunker down, and kill any illusion about who we are. To a degree, we are minorities, but before we are a minority, we are Black, and historically in this country we have bore the burden of politics. If the past week is any indication, it will only get worse before it gets better. So in order to combat the injustices that are sure to be lodged our way during this administration, we better learn who we are (and who we are not) fast!
