Twitter fingers turned to a beat down recently, when openly gay boxer Yusaf Mack confronted a Philadelphia barber over his homophobic remarks.
The LA Clippers barber, Hector Echevarria, had reportedly been harassing Mack via social media comments and the 37-year old boxer decided to do something about it.
A video surfaced of Mack cornering Echevarria to the floor and punching him repeatedly amongst an array of cameraphone-ready spectators. At one point, Echevarria tries rising from the floor, but Mack beats him back down, even throwing a jar of barber tools against his head. You can see the graphic video below:
Paramedics were called to the scene after the attack and Echevarria has yet to press any charges. In fact, Echevarria continued his homophobic remarks on social media, stating, “I rather have a video of some beating me up then a video of someone seeing me take a d*** up my a** any day.” According to his social media accounts, which have gone private, Echevarria is even up for a rematch.
Yusef Mack came out as gay back in 2015 when a porn video surface of him having sex with men. He denied the video at first, claiming he was drugged into his actions, but he later cleared the air and came out as gay.
According to TMZ, Mack does not fear an orchestrated fight with Echevarria. Considering, what we saw in that video, I think we can believe Mack.
