See if your city made America’s list of most literate cities
An annual statistical study ranking 77 of America’s most literate cities has officially hit the net and for the fourth consecutive year Washington has secured the number one spot.
Coordinated by Central Connecticut State University President John Miller, the study is based on statistics including internet usage, educational levels, library resources, newspaper circulation, as well as the number of bookstores.
As specified by USA Today, Miller began conducting his study in 2003 in hopes of drawing attention to “literacy: how much people are reading and where they are reading the most.” The study includes cities with populations of at least 250,000+ and measures quantity, as opposed to quality.
Find out if your city made the list.
