Detroit police are notorious for their poor response times, but a situation like this calls to question the very necessity of a police force at all.
Detroit reporter Charlie LeDuff decided to see for himself what would happen if someone called the police in the case of an emergency. In the time it took for a police officer to show up to to the house he was waiting at, LeDuff managed to go get fast food, twice, spill a drink on his pants, have them dried, take a bath and a plenty more. Insane.
