Its been ten years since Common and Kanye premiered their collaborative project Be. Back in March 2004, the two made musical appearances on the Chappelle Show and performed their now classic cut, “The Food”. In the spirit of this week celebration of Kanye and his impact on music, Common decided to let a freestyle loose over the previously used instrumental. During his interview on Power 106, in Los Angeles, the Chi-town legend discussed his fellow Chicago emcee’s talent and significance. Towards the end of the show, he decided to be gracious enough and spit off the top his head over “The Food” beat, and once again he showed fans why he is easily one of the greatest. He effortlessly moved through the production, rarely stuttering or tripping up. If you are into lyricist, you should definitely check it out.
