When Kobe Bryant opted to sit out of this years NBA All Star game on Sunday due to injury, the NBA replaced him with Anthony Davis. With Bryant sitting out of this year’s All Star game, his 16th vote-in, Davis has pretty big shoes to fill. After all, Davis did win an NCAA National Championship in New Orleans at the Superdome two years ago. He later became New Orleans first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Fast forward to 2014, Davis is having a stellar season for the Pelicans averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Pelicans. He’s excited to rep the Pelicans in the big game on Sunday. “It means a lot,” Anthony Davis told The Source. “The city is going to be behind me.”
“I’m the only one here so I definitely want to put on for the city.
With New Orleans being the destination to be this weekend, Davis admits that he’s doubling his time as a Western All Star and Rising Star athlete. He’s also playing tour guide to his fellow NBA’ers. “Everybody asks me where to go, where to eat,” said Davis. The city of New Orleans is know for tasty gumbo, hurricane and hand grenade fruit drinks and an overall great night life.
“It’s just fun and you’ve got to have fun with it,” Davis said
With Davis playing in last nights Rising Star’s Challenge, he’ll have no hoops activities like NBA Cares Projects today in NOLA. He’ll suit up on Sunday as a Western All Star.
