This past weekend legendary hitmaker Pharrell Williams anchored the annual NBA All-Star Game by performing a small medley of his hits as the East and West All-Stars were announced. Joining Skateboard P was a plethora of superstars who have become synonymous with the producer over the past decade and a half, further cementing that Pharrell’s ear for talent and star-making production are no fluke.

The next 15 years of Pharrell’s dominance in the game may very well hinge on the talents of his newest collaborator, Maxine Ashley. The young siren is the latest to have her sounds buoyed by the stylings of P. Willy on her most recent EP, Moodswings.

If her new video, “Perpetual Nights”, is a harbinger of things to come, the listening public has a lot to look forward to. The 3 and a half minute video is stunning in its psychedelic use of monochrome black and white scenes as well as vivid, full color shots. Maxine is juxtaposed between beautiful optical illusions and flanked by none other than Pha-real himself (and yes, his infamous hat).

Moodswings can be downloaded here for free, and you can watch the video for the jazzy rendition below. Also, if you just so happen to be in London next week, catch Maxine Ashley performing at the Servant Jazz Quarters on February 24th.
