Pharrell had an amazing 2013, garnering a number of Grammy awards for his work with Daft Punk, featured on the two biggest smash hits of the summer, pushing the boundaries of youtube entertainment media companies, and continuing to carve out his niche in the fashion industry. His single “Happy”, which was on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, has been awarded an Oscar nomination as well, which only adds to the already impressive resume. Its going to be hard for the producer turned creative mogul to top last year, but knowing him, you can be sure that he will definitely try and succeed. His upcoming solo album, G I R L, will be the first leap needed to achieve this goal.
Today, Skateboard P took to his twitter to announce the release date and to present a teaser trailer. Fans eager to hear new music, won’t have to wait that long, as the album is due out on March 3rd. The thirty second long teaser, showed a string orchestra practicing one of his unreleased tracks, while various scenes from his studio sessions are spliced in at significant moments. Probably the most compelling scene comes towards the end, when the strings play a beautifully melodic number and you can see one glorious tear inch it’s way down Pharrell’s face. Get ready for some life changing music.
