The Canadian rap crew’s got bars that jump off the screen.

Drake and Justin Bieber aren’t the only ones making popular music north of the border.

Decon Records collective, Notes To Self trek on over to the Canadian National Exhibition for their latest visual titled what else? “Popular Music”. The trio’s disgruntled flows are balanced by visuals of a good time as they partake in fun carnival activities with some uniquely engaging animation courtesy of RUFFMERCY by way of England– best known for his work on ScHoolboy Q’s “There He Go” music video. The video’s animator also co-direct the video with NTS to form RUFFNOTES.

The mildly trippy video brings an alternate source of energy to the track which appears on the physical version of the group’s Target Market [Recoil] project which hit iTunes this past February. The release includes guest spots from the likes of Evidence and Fashawn.

With “Popular Music” Notes To Self makes it pretty clear over the BOOK & BRONZE beat that just cause they’re baggin’ up that funnel cake don’t mean shit is sweet for other rappers in their way.
