With Mardi Gras just around the corner, New Era Hats has paid homage to the city of New Orleans. Inspired by all that is NOLA, the New Era Voodoo Collection takes generously from the city’s rich tapestry of visual cues, like the French Quarter, the fleur de lis in wrought iron and gold leaf, and the colors of Mardi Gras, to create a regionally focused collection you would never mistake for anywhere else.

Introduced during NBA All Star Weekend in New Orleans, New Era’s Voodoo Collection celebrates the core values that make up the DNA of the brand: individuality, authenticity, pride, collaboration and self expression.

New Era takes basketball fans down memory lane using NBA Hardwood Classic designs like the 80s Hawks logo worn during Dominique Wilkins high flying days in the ATL. Hardwood Classics took us back to the 70s with their Phoenix Suns design and an NBA All Star Game 2009 patch to commemorate Phoenix hosting the All Star Game in the desert city.

The Voodoo Collection captures the energy of New Orleans and brings it to life through one-of-a-kind product with visual cues from Voodoo, music and the regional culture,” said New Era’s Sr. PR Manager Paul Murphy.

NetsEverything from the music, to the cuisine, to the Creole language roots and enduring influences from African and Haitian culture inspired the design range expressed throughout the line.

The company partnered with native New Orleanian Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams of Cash Money to endorse the product. “To debut the collection, we partnered with a cultural leader with deep roots in New Orleans and someone who amplifies the core values of New Era,” said Murphy.

According to the folks at New Era, the hat designs feature rare metals like mercury and gold, and designs evocative of earth, air, wind and fire, to iconography, to stealthily hidden elements that are not readily visible in the cold light of day, the Voodoo Collection is sport inspired and culturally driven.
