New Kid Cudi YAY!
So, who else was surprised when Kid Cudi‘s sneaky lil’ self dropped Satellite Flight on us yesterday? OK it wasn’t really a surprise, he tweeted clues and hints mere hours before the release. Nevertheless, I knew I had to get to work. Listening to the album in a non-biased way as a Cudi STAN, I knew I had to be completely honest with my critique. All is fair in music and journalism, right? (NOT).
If you are looking for the same sound that EVERYONE ELSE is looking for, that old mixtape, first album Cudi, then you WILL be disappointed. But, if you are open-minded and you have embraced and accepted WZRD and Indicud, you won’t necessarily mind the sci-fi, movie score feel of this album. Heck, you might just think it’s his best work yet! Cudi grows as an artist and a producer, experimenting and perfecting his sound which is extremely evident in his recent bodies of work.Kid Cudi wrote and co-wrote every single song on the album, as well as full production along with the familiar addition of Dot Da Genius on the credits as well. There is also only ONE collab song, which features singer Raphael Saadiq of the classic RnB/Neo-soul group Tony! Toni! Toné! (what a clever collaboration!).
Here are 10 fun witty facts and small reviews on each of the 10 songs on the album. Make sure you purchase it from iTunes or Amazon and critique it yourself, FYI: It’s AMAZING!
Hold on to your seats, people. We are about to embark on a journey. Where to, you ask? The moon.
