Following a shootout with Atlanta police outside of a popular nightclub early Monday (March 3) morning, a DJ has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Dekalb police say Ronald Robinson, 39, was injured in the shootout and is in stable condition.
The shooting occurred outside the Velvet Room where the club was hosting an album release party Sunday night for Rick Ross and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Everything seemed to be going well until two off-duty officers working at the nightclub heard gunshots in the back of the club at about 4 a.m.
Officers responded to the rear of the club where they were met with gunfire.
“One subject turned toward them, firing shots,” DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander said. “They returned fire, hitting the subject in the leg.”
The officers were uninjured.
The wounded man, who was identified to investigators as Robinson, a disc jockey at the club, got up and went back inside the club. He was then arrested and transported to a local hospital.
