The Weave ExperienceThis Miami hair salon offers their expertise on weaves.  You’d be amazed at what $50 can do.

There are a lot of myths and misconceptions about women and their weaves.  I’ve heard theories that range from the idea that women who wear weaves are baldheaded to the notion that they’re full of self hate, and/or want to be European.

While there are many women who opt to rock their natural locks, there are also women who love the versatility and manageability that wearing a weave offers.

“It’s addicting,” says LaJoyce Denson, manager at The Weave Experience in Miami, FL.  ”Once you get the first one, you’ll be back again and again.”

I took a trip to The Weave Experience this past weekend to put LaJoyce’s claims to the test–and was pleasantly surprised.

The Weave Experience is one of Miami’s hidden gems.  Their minimalist, modern decor is welcoming and inviting; the latest hip hop tunes can be heard wafting throughout the salons’ speakers.  All of the stylists are young and fashionable–more importantly, they’re all licensed cosmetologists and have great hair themselves (I know you know how off-putting it is when you go into a salon to get your hair done and the stylist has horrible looking hair!).

The salon sets itself apart with its low prices and commitment to getting you in and out in three hours or less, with a fully installed weave.  That includes trimming, styling, and any other services that need to happen for the install.  They do a few different kinds of weaves as well–the sew ins are the most popular, but they also do the micro link method as well.  You can bring your own hair or purchase bundles of virgin Remy, Brazilian, Malaysian, and Peruvian hair.  They have a walk-in only policy, guarantee your wait time to see a stylist should be no more than 15 minutes, and have great hours.  What more can you ask for?

Some women even come in for services besides weave.  While I was there, one client named Lori said she was a regular and even came in between weaves to get her hair deep conditioned and treated.

My stylist, Michelle, was fast, fun, and professional.  She did a great job of blending my natural hair in with the weave–and my braids were so small that I could easily pull my hair into a ponytail without the tracks showing.  The discomfort from the braiding was minimal; I didn’t have a headache or feel any pulling on my hair.

All in all, she did a great job and I’d definitely go back.

LaJoyce and Michelle also offered some great expert tips to keep your weave looking fab.
