Weezy isn’t playing
Lil’ Wayne‘s last two Carter albums, Tha Carter III & Tha Carter IV, have sold a collective 1.7 million copies in their respective first weeks on the shelves–the best such mark of any rapper of this generation. Tha Carter V, set to be released this year–May 5th according to Drake–has been rumored to be Weezy’s last solo album, but, as told to Rob Markman of MTV News, the fifth installment in the legendary Carter series will in fact be Wayne’s last solo album.
According to his responses to Markman’s inquiry, Wayne would need a record label to front 25-35 million dollars in order for him to begin recording a solo album after the release of C5, and Weezy maintains that he will continue to contribute to YMCMB albums, and any collaborations with Baby, or other “out of the blue” projects.
