So all the whispers are true about Ben Tate, becoming a Cleveland Brown. The 25 year old former Houston Texans running back on Saturday signed a two-year deal worth about $7 million. Later The Browns have confirmed the deal. All though The Browns – under new coach Mike Pettine and a new general manager Ray Farmer, negotiated a short-term agreement that accounts for Ben’s injury history and his contract will be performance based. He played much of last season with multiple broken ribs and has struggled with his health yet he’s very confident in his abilities.
“I think I can bring you an elite running back,” Tate told Fox 26 in Houston. “I’ve learned a lot being behind Arian [Foster]. Definitely, when I’m healthy I think I’m an elite running back in this league, and I feel like I can show my abilities and my numbers and my play will speak for itself, and guys will be able to see that I am a guy who is a top-five running back in this league, which I believe once I get out there and get to show that on a consistent basis.
“That’s something I’m more excited for and something that I’m working hard this offseason just to prove my worth, that I am that person or that player that I think I am.”
Let’s wish Ben Tate all the best as he will be joining a cast of runners that include Fozzy Whittaker, Edwin Baker and Chris Ogbonnaya.
