Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

This is disheartening

Bad news for Oklahoma City Thunder fans. Russell Westbrook, their All-Star starting point guard, and the heart and soul of this Thunder team, appeared to seriously re-injure his surgically repaired right knee in tonight’s game against the Raptors.

Westbrook, who originally injured the knee in a playoff game against the Houston Rockets last year during a much talked about, controversial play involving the headstrong Patrick Beverly, had surgery to repair his torn meniscus, and preventive surgery earlier this year that kept him out for several weeks.

According to sources close to the Thunder, Westbrook merely sprained his knee, and did not return to the game, but the connection his leg made with Kyle Lowry‘s looked serious enough to warrant a cringe from onlookers.

Let’s hope this injury isn’t nearly as serious as the last one.
