Over the last 30 years Nike has revolutionize the sneaker world with a handful of their sneakers. Besides the Air Jordan 1, the Air max 1 could be considered one of Nike’s greatest sneaker achievements.

Debuting on March 26 1987, Nike decided to make the date an official holiday for the brand and will release the  Nike Air Max 1 “Air Max Day,” a recreation of the very first Air Max 1 in its original colorway of  white/sport red which was created by sneaker creator Tinker Hatfield. The Air Max 1 was the very first sneaker to show a visible air cushion.  The “Air Max Day” sneaker will feature 3/26 on the tongue and vintage yellowing on the soles to give it that old feel.

Nike Sportswear has an entire site dedicated to the Air Max. It will have plenty of throwback ads from the ’80s, which will show sneaker collectors the evolution of the Air Max back in 1987 to present date. March 26 marks the official date for #AIRMAX and to celebrate Nike and their game changing technology.
