It wasn’t I Declare War but, OVO Fest made for one rather momentous occasion
A detailed history of the rift between Drake and Kanye West would take even the most attentive rap nerd blogger hours to write, but last night it became very apparent to the world that there were actually no hard feelings between the two superstars, as Kanye joined Drake on stage at the Molson Ampitheater in Toronto to perform “New Slaves”, “All Of The Lights” & “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”. Despite Kanye directing Drake’s first major music video (“Best I Ever Had”), and producing one of Drake’s debut album’s standouts (Thank Me Later‘s “Show Me A Good Time”), since 2011 there seemed to be a Cold War-esque air surrounding Drake & Yeezy. From Mr. West’s “I’m about to make ‘em tuck they whole summer in” jab on Watch The Throne‘s Otis–which was mainly chalked up by the media to be a shot at Drake–to Drake’s most recent single “All Me” containing the lyric “Heard ya new sh*t, n*gga, I hated it”, which the public believed to be about Yeezus, it seemed as if the occasional subliminal dis about each other were in no short order. Drake cleared the air, if not on stage, with RevoltTV last night, about his relationship with Kanye West.
“There’s a lack of communication in rap sometimes, just because, its so competitive”
