So there’s this Dad out there in the world, and this Dad has two sons. These two sons go to school everyday, head to lunch, open up their bag and BAM!, art all over it. You see, that Dad is David Laferriere, a full-time graphic designer out of Massachusetts who loves his kids and just wants to make them laugh throughout their childhood. For the past 5 years or so, David’s been drawing detailed cartoon characters on his kids’ plastic lunchbags before sending them off to school. each piece is different, never duplicated, and all are done with the magic of a Sharpie. 1,108 bags and counting. I’m not sure about you, but all I got as a kid was a flat turkey sammich and MAYBE some Pringles. Maybe. Checkout a few examples of David’s work, below!

“The challenges are coming up with an idea and then drawing quickly and directly on the bag, every line counts,” says David who has already created more than 1,100 lunch bag illustrations. His inspirations come from whatever is happening at the moment: “Could be something we did as a family, a holiday or a day like Ground Hog’s Day. The weather sneaks in from time to time.”
