College student Julian Batts had one of the biggest misfortunes while he competed on the game show “Wheel of Fortune” last week after he flubbed a word while trying to solve a puzzle.

The Indiana University freshman was ready to claim and cash in on his million dollars when he mispronounced the answer, “Mythological Hero Achilles.” Instead of the letters lighting up and claiming him as the winner of the round he heard the buzz of an incorrect answer, thats because he said “Mythological Hero A-chill-us.”

After the flub and awkward silence, Pat Sajak told Julian that the answer he provided couldn’t be accepted. And then the next contestant went on to solve the puzzle pronouncing the word correctly. A spokesperson made a brief statement explaining,  “When a contestant tries to solve a puzzle, they must pronounce it using the generally accepted pronunciation”.

Batts, appearing on Good Morning America April 14, said the experience “hit me like a train. I really didn’t know how to react to it. The game continued on and Texas A&M, she solved it and it hit me right then and there that it was Achilles.”

Screwing up the Achilles answer wasn’t Batts’ only mistake for the night. He also made a guess of an “on-the-spot dicespin,” when said correctly is  “on-the-spot decision.”  While Batts didn’t win the million dollars he did walk away with a win and $11,700 in cash winnings.

Batts said on GMA Monday morning, “I didn’t feel like I made a mistake but I feel like I solved the puzzle entirely and all I had to do was read it and I just went for it and I did my best.
