If you’re recently released from jail and in need of a ride home, stealing an ambulance is not the best way to get there, just ask Cesar Garcia.
Garcia, 33, was arrested Sunday morning in Chandler, AZ., when he was caught drinking a beer inside a grocery store. He was then taken to the Chandler Police Department and issued a citation before being released. Garcia, who clearly lacked good judgment and soberness, hopped into the nearest vehicle, an ambulance, and drove to his home in Guadalupe, AZ.
When cops realized the ambulance was gone, they put two and two together and figured Garcia had taken the emergency vehicle. Garcia didn’t even make it out of the vehicle before the officers arrived and tried to apprehend the drunken thief. Garcia, however, didn’t go down without a fight and attempted to “punch and kick” officers — knocking one officer’s glasses off his face — before he was taken into custody.
Chandler police transported Garcia to the hospital where his unruliness continued with him spitting in a nurse’s eye. He was eventually charged with theft of transportation, unlawful flight from law enforcement, resisting arrest, criminal damage and aggravated DUI.
Now i’m not saying Garcia isn’t responsible for jacking the ambulance, but has anyone ever heard of locking the doors? C’mon.
