The best and the brightest of the fashion industry mingled with the most innovative minds of the auto industry to unleash a special fashion collaboration.
The evening celebrated the Ford Mustang’s 50th Anniversary in style atop the Empire State Building. In addition to a haute yellow 2015 Mustang parked on the 102nd floor observation deck, guests were invited to play at Ford-branded pinball machines, gaze at miniature replicas of Ford’s greatest hits, and of course, toast five designers who partnered with Ford to create a limited edition collection in celebration of Ford’s big birthday.
Anna Sui, Pamela Love, Paula Cademartori, and the creative minds behind Rogan and Cote spoke about their designs for the forthcoming Mustang Unleashed collection and what the Ford brand means to them. Highlighting the automobile’s essential Americana image, its power, and its sleek design, the panelists were unabashed in their love for the quintessential American automobile. Anna Sui gave voice to her lifelong relationship with Ford, saying, “As kids growing up in Detroit…we used to ride our bikes past the Ford headquarters…and if ever I was going to have a car, it would have been Mustang”.
Pamela Love also commented on her attachment to the car, saying, “We’re always looking at pop culture, and as an American-made brand, we are always looking at what it means to be an American. It’s important to look at what the essence of Mustang means”. The pony car certainly made an impression on guests of the event, and the forthcoming designs of the Mustang Unleashed collection are sure to do the same.
