Woah, woah, woah, there’s a sequel in the works?!

It’s been over 20 years since actor Robin Williams dressed up as Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire for the sake of his children in the box office smash Mrs. Doubtfire. Who could forget the cleaning scene where the Scottish nanny danced as Aerosmith’s “Dude Looks Like A Lady” playing in the background? Well now you can gear up to take a trip down memory lane, as Fox 2000 Pictures is currently working on the sequel for the gut-busting comedy.

The 1993 Golden Globe-winning film starred Williams as Daniel Hillard, a struggling  actor who took on the role of Mrs. Doubtfire in order to see his three children. Hilarity ensued throughout as Williams goes from using cake frosting as a face mask to setting his fake bosom on fire, and one can only imagine what they’ll come up with for the sequel.

robinwilliamsEveryone seems to be on board with the sequel, except for one. Matthew Lawrence– who played Daniel’s son Christopher in the movie- spoke with TMZ & said “Of course I would be on board. I hope they make the second as good as the first. The first was so good. It will be great to get the family back together.” With that being said, Sally Field is also expected to rejoin the cast as Daniel’s wife Miranda, as well as the oldest daughter Lydia Hillard, played by Lisa Jakub.

Mara Wilson (who played the youngest daughter, Natalie Hillard), however, wants no parts of it. ”For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I,” Wilson stated on her social media sites earlier today. “Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end.”

Though we may not have the chance to see the entire family together again, with Elf writer David Berenbaum set to write the script and Chris Columbus ready to get back in the director’s chair, we can certainly expect a movie that will give provide non stop laughs & a wholesome good time.
