Usually there’s one rapper that outshines everyone else in the crew. Think B.I.G. and Bad Boy, Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella, 50 Cent and G-Unit. But TDE’s roster is, arguably balanced out with talent. Fans eagerly anticipate their each of TDE’s projects. And Kendrick, ScHoolboy, Jay, SZA and Isaiah deliver every time.
Today, Ab-Soul does what TDE is known for, he delivered a banging track, “Trees of Life.” Over Curtiss King’s soulful production, Soul goes on an inspiring paper chase. He’s honest about being vexed with taking pictures with fans and spills his rags to riches tour stories about staying at the Travelodge to staying at the W.
I’m irritated, but they’re the reason I’m getting rich, cheese, give me an upgrade/See, then I’ll be on my way/I’m on my way to NYC/Last time I was there, I swear I sold out SOB’s/ In Time Square with my circle of Gs, Nah mean?/ You should’ve never gave us n***** money/now we coming for everything.
Ab-Soul, AKA Soul Brother No. 2 announced that he’s working on new material. His previous mix-tapes include Longterm Mentality (2011) and Control System (2012).
