A male’s body was found yesterday Monday April 21,2014 around 3pm in Brooklyn’s Gowanus Canal. Police are still investigating the corpse found in grey sweatpants and a blue sweatshirt. NYPD used a truck-mounted hoist to remove the body after witness spotted it near the Union Street bridge. The black male was floating, fully clothed according to police. No further information has been released until an autopsy is performed.
The Gowanus Canal, also known as the Gowanus Creek Canal runs for about 2 miles on Brooklyn’s western side. Unfortunately its been titled one of the most polluted waters in the United States. The Canal is generally used for Brooklyn’s commercial shipping activity.
