After making the announcement back in January, Eminem has just released the promotional trailer for his new battle league, Total Slaughter. The contest kicks off July 12 with Joe Budden taking on Hollow Da Don, a showdown for the ages. Two of the most witty, quick-drawing emcees with punchlines for days going head to head? Count me in. Rumored to also be featured in the league is the long awaited bout between Mayweather versus Pacquiao. Oh, sorry, I meant Loaded Lux versus Murda Mook – a battle just as highly anticipated.
Along with the battle series, there is also a reality-esque league, Road to Total Slaughter, that will be taking each other on leading up to the premier. The show is set to follow eight battle rappers as they face-off in a tournament to participate in the undercard for the Budden/Hollow headlined event. Math Hoffa, Dizaster, Arsonal, Daylyt, Cortez, Marv Won, Big T and Aye Verb were originally announced as part of the show, and T-Rex is also reportedly involved. this should put an interesting spin on the whole reality fad that has been going around. Oh yea, these guys will all be living in the same house. Did we mention that?
With a ton of battle leagues emerging onto the scene these past few years, there has been a large resurgence in a sport that was fading out before. It will be very interesting to see how one of this cultures best freestylers/battlers will do running an event that he fits into so perfectly.
“Leading into the live event, WatchLOUD.com will release a four-part reality series called Road to Total Slaughter, which will feature eight of the hungriest battle MCs in the country living together and competing for the right to face-off on the undercard of Total Slaughter,” a press release says. “Filmed earlier this year in Brooklyn, Road to Total Slaughter will be featured on WatchLOUD in June.”
