Oprah x Dre x FloydOn Tuesday afternoon NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was permanently banned from the league and ordered to pay a $2.5 million fine after recordings were released of his racist remarks towards black people.  Silver needs 75% of the other NBA owners vote to completely get Sterling out and they are pushing for him to sell the team.

Bidding has reportedly already begun and is expected to exceed $1 billion.  Among the bidders are Magic Johnson and the Guggenheim group who also purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Yesterday on Twitter Rick Ross and Diddy also threw themselves in the ring but everyone is now facing some tough competition.

Oprah Winfrey is reportedly considering joining up with billionaire media mogul David Geffen and Larry Ellison according to ESPN reports.

Undefeated boxing superstar, Floyd Mayweather who is a regular at Lakers and Clippers games was speaking with reporters at the VIP lounge at the MGM Grand about this upcoming fight and announced he too would be interested in owning a piece of the team.  Mayweather discussed teaming with Mayweather Promotions chief executive Leonard Ellerbe and Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer (Oscar De La Hoya is interested as well).

“I called Al today about that to see if me, Leonard and Al, and hopefully Richard and a couple of other guys, a couple other of my billionaire guys, we can come together and see what we can come up with,” Mayweather said. “Hopefully, we can do it, and it’s not just talk.

“With me, I can’t come in talking about Mayweather only gonna get 3 percent, 4 percent. I got to get a solid percentage. Do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes, we do. We are very, very interested in buying the Clippers. We’ll keep the Clippers right where they’re at.

Dr. Dre told TMZ Sports that he too is “absolutely” interested in purchasing the Clippers.  ”I’m thinking about it … yes,” Dre told them on his way in to Boa Steakhouse in L.A. last night.

This could turn out to be quite the bidding war.
