Things have been real testy in the Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets first round playoff series. In addition to the two teams and fans battling each other, the beef made it’s way to the rap world thanks to Drake. The Toronto rapper is an ambassador for the team and can often be spotted courtside. During game one of the series he sent a shot at Brooklyn rapper and former minority owner of the Nets, Jay Z claiming Hov was somewhere eating a “fondue plate” since he wasn’t in attendance.
Jay Z didn’t fire back nor did he attend game three and four in Brooklyn. He’s appeared to have taken a step back from the team since selling his share in order to start Roc Nation Sports.
Well it looks like Drake has a supporter and it turns out to be a New York native. Actually it’s a Queens native so that makes a difference (Brooklyn and Queens tend to have beef). Rapper 50 Cent was spotted courtside during game five in Toronto. Not only was he in attendance, he was also wearing a “Northern Uprising” hat, the Raptors motto.
In an interview with Funkmaster Flex , 50 Cent chose not to take sides between Drake and Jay Z. “I don’t know [who I’d choose lyrically],” he said. “It’s gonna be what musical choices, the production choice count, too.” In another interview however with Sirius Shade 45 Fif admitted that he wanted to work with Drake.
“I haven’t worked with Drake or Rihanna, and I’d like to work with them,” 50 said. “I don’t think anyone can beat Drake and creating relationship-based content.” Well he is a business man…
