G I R L exhibitionIt’s been a big first quarter for Pharrell and his trajectory seems to be unwavering. The-man-who-never-ages seems to be on a stark run with the success of his sophomore studio album G I R L with the help from the nation’s most beloved song of this year “Happy”, an upcoming ‘social book’ called Inspirationand his “i am OTHER” collection with Uniqlo – his hot streak isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Now, Skateboard P is looking to curate an art exhibition bearing his album’s name, “G I R L”.

Pharrell isn’t a novice to art, as his Miami apartment is the home to tons (and we do mean TONS) of artwork, and he’s no newbie to curating as he curated the “This is Not a Toy” exhibition last February at Design Exchange in Toronto, Canada. While “This is Not a Toy” focused on well… toys, “G I R L” will focus on femininity — celebrating the liberation of women and their “boundless imagination” according to the event’s press release.

The exhibition will consist of about 40 artworks — 10 of which will be created specifically for the show — by 34 artists, 16 if which are women. The specially produced pieces will consist of a large tondo as a tribute to Pharrell and his wife by his long time friend Takashi Murakami, a sculptured crafted from broken glass by Daniel Arsham, a laser portrait of Marilyn Monroe by Gregor Hildebrandt, a piece by Laurent Grasso entitled Studies into the past – Single Cover of “Lost Queen” by Pharrell Williams which features Pharrell as Napoleon, and a canvas piece by KAWS who is also reportedly designing the bottle for Pharrell’s upcoming G I R L fragrance. With some of art’s biggest names and Pharrell running the show, it’s bound to be epic.

Pharrell’s G I R L art exhibition will open on May 27th at 11 a.m. at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris.
